What a Real Mom Looks Like

By Annie Willems April 4, 2019

I know.

You're busy. Life literally never stops moving. There's not time for one.more.thing.

I get it. It's no different here. This family photo (that's now almost 2 years old) shows a family in coordinating outfits- that are clean. And everyone is smiling. There are no parents looking completely done with the experience.

But we were done the second after this photo was taken. Because we're human. And raising kids is stinkin' hard work.

I desperately want to be the parent whose children get outside, socialize, go on new adventures, explore nature. I want my family to feel connected to the place that I grew up and where they are growing up. I want them to know Salem as well as I do. And to LOVE it as much as I do.

I stepped into this role of Macaroni Kid Publisher partially for myself.

Because I'm a real mom. I come home from work and I just want to put on pajamas and do NOTHING. I don't want to add one more thing to my life. I've raised two kids to adulthood and I still don't know how to get out into my community with my kids.

So we're going to do it together.

I'll do the research. I'll find the events. I'll get you the information.

And we'll all show up. We'll show our kids how incredible the Pacific Northwest really is. We'll explore things we didn't even know existed.

Together. Because that's what community is.
