I spent the last 2 years as a foster parent.
It wasn't the plan for our family. I didn't prepare for it or set a goal to do it. It just happened. That two years was eye opening for me. I was in the midst of a situation and a process that I hadn't clearly understood. It was hard and lonely and frustrating. And yet so beautiful.
It gave me a new understanding of foster families... and why we don't have enough. It's a passion that is underappreciated and not nearly visible enough.
May is National Foster Care Month.
And we'd like to bless the socks off of 10-15 of our Salem-area foster families.
Why? Because our community NEEDS to retain these families for our children.
