Gold Star Family Memorial Coming to Keizer!

To honor the families of servicemen and women who sacrificed their lives serving in the military

Macaroni KID Salem has some wonderful news for families of Salem/Keizer! An undeveloped park in Keizer Station has been chosen to host a monument that honors families of servicemen and women who lost their lives while on active military duty. A new Gold Star Families Memorial Monument (GSFMM) is being planned to be erected at PFC Ryan J. Hill through the Woody Williams Foundation, a nonprofit that facilitates the implementation of GSFMMs, PFC Ryan J. Hill Park in the Keizer Station will be receiving

The monument will be double-sided and made of black granite. One side features scenes with the words Homeland, Family, Patriot, and Sacrifice etched on the bottom. The other side has the words: Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, a tribute to Gold Star Families and Relatives who sacrificed a Loved One for our Freedom. In the center is a silhouette of a service member saluting.



Help raise funds for this monument dedicated to families who lost loved ones serving in the military.


The total cost to purchase and install the GSFMM is $150,000. As of now, nearly half of the cost of the monument has been raised as donations through the efforts of local community and councilor members. 

Another fundraising event will be held at Keizer's local bowling alley, The Rec, on March 31A portion of the proceeds raised from families and community members having fun while bowling will be donated to the GSFMM effort.
