Through the Lens Ministries is a professional photography company operated by Salem photographer, Gabe Gallegos. He specializes in capturing candid moments in action! His goal is to preserve the real, joy-filled moments that are unique to every family.
My family had the opportunity to work with Through the Lens Ministries at the beginning of the year. We made these as belated Christmas gifts for our family in Louisiana and for us since we had never had family photos taken before. This review will highlight how we booked, determined our time and location, as well as our experience being photographed and receiving our finished photos!
Booking, Time, and Location
Through the Lens Ministries offered a mini-shoot on Facebook and Instagram for booking in the month of December, so we jumped on it by emailing Gabe through his website. He responded within one business day, and we settled on a date and time. We wanted to be outdoors (even with potential rain) but weren't sure about places to go. Fortunately, Gabe had some ideas and offered a couple of places to us. We settled on Bush's Pasture Park.
Then, it was on us to determine what we would wear and be ready for our shoot! I ended up sending him the color scheme for our outfits, and he was very affirming.
Say, Cheese!
On the day of our photo shoot, Gabe was timely and full of joy! He seemed excited to be with us. He asked us if we had any poses or areas of the park we wanted pictures of. We didn't, and so he led the way. His directions were simple: Look at me while you...walk down the stairs holding hands, sit on this step with your legs turned, run after your child in the grass, etc.. It was easy and fun to do! We did have to do some walking around the park in the cold, but we were able to get some diverse shots despite people being out and about.
The mini-shoot in total was 30 minutes. Gabe was confident he had what he needed but asked us once more if there were any shots we wanted to take. I appreciated this because it gave us a chance to be creative if something had come to us during the shoot.
